Sanswire Networks LLC to Float Equipped 2A Technology Demonstrator Stratellite(TM)
PALMDALE, Calif., Dec 12, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- In a significant step toward fulfilling its mission to provide solutions for the delivery of wireless communications from the stratosphere, GlobeTel Communications Corp. (Pink Sheets:GTEM) today announced that its Sanswire Networks LLC subsidiary is preparing the Sanswire 2A Technology Demonstrator Stratellite(TM) airship for its first comprehensive open-air float test, anticipated to occur at the end of this week in Southern California.
The 2A will ascend into the air with the flight computer, navigation and telemetry systems, propulsion system with special low altitude propellers to be used for initial flight tests, avionics suite, automated fly by wire electro servo actuated flight control system, back up power systems, antenna suite for GPS and iridium satellite uplink system and the ground control/monitoring station and tether system. In addition the HotZone 4010 will be installed, giving a bird's eye view "hotspot" in the sky featuring the HotZone's combination WiFi/WiMax/VoIP via DECT all in one communications suite solution.
Przemyslaw L. Kostro, Chairman, stated, "This breakthrough test will showcase our concept to different audiences, however, our Board of Directors knows it's our shareholders who are most eager to see us deliver this milestone. Our shareholders have been committed to seeing the Stratellite(TM) project through to completion, and we remain committed to our loyal, long term shareholders."
Peter Khoury, Chief Executive Officer, stated, "We're confident we will prove the potential of the Stratellite(TM) solution with this demonstration. Our testing process is detailed and thorough, and has now brought us to the point where the Stratellite(TM) demonstrator needs to be in the air to show the benefits it can deliver to the telecom, aerospace and defense industries, among others. We've stuck hard and fast to Stratellite(TM) development because we believe it can revolutionize the delivery of VoIP, WiFi and WiMax, and we're excited to be able to take this important step forward with our program."

Sanswire Networks' 2A Technology Demonstrator Stratellite(TM) Floated Successfully, Proving Feasibility of Unique Integration Model
PALMDALE, Calif., Dec 14, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sanswire Networks' 2A Technology Demonstrator Stratellite(TM) successfully completed a tethered float test this morning over the company's facility in Palmdale, California. Using the airship as a communications platform, invited guests from government and industry accessed the Internet, made VoIP telephone calls with cordless DECT telephones, and viewed a live video surveillance feed. Sanswire, a subsidiary of GlobeTel Communications Corp. (Pink Sheets:GTEM) is now positioned to advance the 2A to its next phase of testing, which includes untethered flight testing at Edwards Air Force Base.
The test commenced at approximately 8:00 a.m. Pacific time under mostly clear skies with winds out of the south at approximately 3 mph, providing ideal testing conditions. The airship contained GlobeTel's proprietary HotZone 4010 technology, with Wi-Fi, WiMax and VoIP over DECT capabilities within one unit. The HotZone provided wireless broadband coverage for the invited guests, who also tested the system by using a DECT standard cordless phone to place calls that were routed through GlobeTel's StrateVoIP voice over IP platform. In addition to providing internet access and telephone service, the Sanswire 2A provided a real-time video surveillance feed from a remote control camera attached to the airship.
This convergence of GlobeTel technologies demonstrates the effectiveness of delivering communications via the processes the Company had all along envisioned.
"I'm extremely proud of the work of our team," said Sanswire President Doug Murch. "Their dedication has put us at the forefront of using airships as communications platforms."
"This is truly a landmark day for Sanswire and GlobeTel," announced Peter Khoury, Chief Executive Officer of GlobeTel Communications. "We've confirmed to prospective partners, potential customers, our shareholders and ourselves that the Stratellite(TM) concept of integration is achievable. The data collected via this test will now be evaluated by the Sanswire engineers to determine a schedule for moving ahead toward flight. Doug Murch and the entire Sanswire team brought innovation and dedication one step closer to actualization today."
About The Stratellite(TM)
A Stratellite(TM) stationed in the stratosphere, at 65,000 feet, will be able to provide state-of-the-art communications to areas that either don't currently have the infrastructure to support such services, or are unable to support a terrestrial-based infrastructure due to topography. Additionally, a Stratellite(TM) can be used to supplement communications services in areas where infrastructure has been damaged by natural or man-made disasters. Lower altitude, shorter duration airships more closely resembling the Sanswire 2A are envisioned to be able to provide communications in times of emergency or could be used for border patrol, surveillance, and as a communications bridge to naval battle groups or between ground troops.

Sanswire and TAO Technologies Announce Free Flight Testing for Autonomously Controlled Solar Powered Airship
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. and STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Sanswire Networks LLC, subsidiary of GlobeTel Communications Corp. (Pink Sheets: GTEM), and TAO Technologies, GmbH, today announced that initial testing and free flight missions of the Sanswire Autonomous Solar, "SAS-51," a solar-powered, autonomously-controlled airship designed to fly on pre- determined low altitude missions, commenced on November 22, 2007. The SAS-51 is the first Sanswire.branded product ready for commercialization, resulting from the Sanswire/TAO relationship. The SAS-51 is a result of long term airship development initiatives undertaken by TAO and its predecessors, working with the University of Stuttgart.
"We're pleased to demonstrate the first of several aerial vehicles resulting from our relationship with TAO," stated Jonathan Leinwand, Chief Executive Officer of GlobeTel Communications. "The application capabilities for the SAS-51 are numerous and have opened up potential new markets, including border control, pipeline monitoring, crop analysis, emergency communications and geological surveying."
The compact SAS-51 solar powered ship can be rapidly deployed on missions within hours, utilizing a mobilized hangar attached to a delivery vehicle. Weighing just under 100 kilograms (220 lbs.) and measuring 15.6 meters (51.2 ft.) in length, the lighter-than-air platform has achieved a maximum altitude of approximately 1000 meters (3280 ft.). Envisioned to be predominantly a low speed and stationary surveillance and monitoring platform, the airship has attained a maximum velocity of 46 kilometers per hour (28.5 miles per hour) during previous free flight tests, and depending on the mission profile, can produce a coverage path of approximately 300 kilometers (186 miles).
Solar power fuels the airship's electric needs, making the SAS-51 completely emissions-free. The solar generators consist of three solar panels each. The panels, flexible enough to be mounted on the airship's hull, contain individual solar cells that connect to the charging equipment of the flight accumulators. The accumulators provide a stabilizing and buffering effect to counter variables that would effect the collection of energy, including clouds and time of day. This helps ensure a steady stream of power to the SAS-51's propulsion equipment and components that rely on electricity such as the rudder machines, ballonet fans and valves. All systems including the surveillance, location, and electrical activity are monitored from the ground base station in real time.
The SAS-51's pressurized hull is composed of a combination of Tedlar and Mylar that effectively has reduced the helium diffusion rate to one liter per day. Sanswire and TAO believe this to be a rate of permeability that easily accommodates the missions the airship was built to execute.
Pending favorable weather conditions during upcoming weeks, additional free flight demonstrations of the SAS-51 will include missions carrying payload integrations of video surveillance equipment energized by onboard solar-powered electrical systems; all guided from the ground by proprietary flight control systems.
On September 26, 2007, GlobeTel and TAO announced that they had reached an agreement in principle to form Sanswire-TAO GmbH, which will own the intellectual property associated with the design of high altitude airships. On November 27, 2007, GlobeTel and TAO announced that they had entered into an exclusive airship licensing agreement for territories including the US, Canada, Mexico and Chile.
